the spirit of giving back through our community service initiatives, cultivating a sense of responsibility and empathy. Dive into sustainability projects, promoting environmental consciousness and making a positive impact.

Co-curricular Activities

Students have opportunities to solidify their learning and understanding of the world with real-life experiences. Field trips and hands on learning make concepts more memorable.

Health and Safety

The Sick Bay is well equipped and resourced by the Newmont Clinic.  The Sick Bay and defibrillator are checked regularly by the paramedic from the Newmont Clinic.  Fire drills take place at least twice each year. The Newmont Emergency Response Team responds to at least one fire drill each year and thoroughly checks the procedures and equipment

Clubs

Clubs are offered throughout the year and students can choose form a wide variety of offerings. Clubs which have been offered include Chess, ballet, art and craft, tie dying, football, drama, spy training, public speaking, Scouts, cooking, coding, needle work, Zumba, dance, basketball, tennis, gardening, board games, etiquette and manners, design and technology, etc.

Sustainability

As part of their education, students are encouraged to reflect and act on their responsibility for the environment and a sustainable future.

Student Council

Student Council members are elected by their peers annually. The school acts on students’ suggestions and proposals, where feasible. As a result, many of the special events that happen in school have originated from ideas presented at Student Council meetings. The Student Council organises fundraising events in support of community service projects in the local community.

Community Service

The school’s setting has great contrasts. On one hand, there is MKV, a community exclusive to Newmont families with state-of-the-art facilities, including the school. On another just outside the gate, there are authentic Ghanaian villages with people and experiences very different from what children in MKV are used to. This stark reality presents unique opportunities for students to acknowledge the diversity of life, interact with the locals, and develop compassion and a spirit of service. A commitment to service permeates the ethos of student life and enriches the curriculum.

Some of our recent community service projects are reading and crafts with Merister School, collaborating with the Social Welfare Department on the donation of clothes, food and school supplies to our friends, collaborating with the MKV Ladies, on Pad a Girl project to donate sanitary towels and provide menstrual health hygiene support for girls in under-privileged schools

Our Community Impact
